The machine was designed by John Carter in Rockhampton, Queensland in 1982, with the first production machine in 1987. Ownership has changed several times: Sapphire Engineering bought the patent in July 2000, production ceased in March 2017, and Matt and Kerry Young have run the business since March 2020.
