The house is run by Alessandro Moimas, a geologist and gemologist with a specialisation from the International Gemological Institute in Antwerp, and Francesca Calandrini, an architect responsible for jewellery design; its own pages describe them as husband and wife, and Luxedo itself as a still-young, growing company with its own gemological laboratory for grading and certification.
Luxedo states that it imports gemstone rough from multiple sources and cuts and polishes it in Italy, and that its stones are natural. Every sapphire listing checked for this record states Sri Lankan (Ceylon) origin.
