The Hope Spinel, an exceptional 19th century spinel and diamond jewel
Sold for GBP 962,500 including premium on the house page. SSEF 81343 (23 July 2015) with premium appendix, confirmed unheated; Tajikistan, the ancient Kuh-i-Lal mines (no Tajikistan row exists in this register's origin taxonomy). The lot page gives the weight as 50.133 carats; Bonhams' release says 50.13. Bonhams announced a world record at about USD 30,000 per carat, against a prior record of 16,000 set in 2013.
