What the badge claims, and what it does not.
Every mark on GemsVerified is a claim, and a claim deserves exact edges. This page states what verification covers, how often it is repeated, what suspends it and where to write when something looks wrong.
The exact boundary
The dealer's legal existence and trading identity were checked against company and trade records at the last assay.
The dealer's certification practice was reviewed — which laboratories they certify with, and how consistently reports accompany the stones they offer.
Treatment disclosure is a condition of admission: stated plainly on every stone, with untreated declared as a positive claim.
A badge does not certify any individual stone — not its identity, its treatment, its origin nor its value. Stone-level claims belong to independent laboratory reports.
A badge is not a recommendation to buy, a valuation or a judgement of price. It records checks on the dealer, nothing more.
A badge does not reflect reviews or ratings. None are collected anywhere on GemsVerified.
The method, in brief
Admission rests on four stages: the application screened, documents assayed, a live inspection under the loupe for Live-verified standing, and a GV Score struck on the evidence. The method is published in full and applies identically to every dealer.
Re-verification
Standing is not permanent. Every verified dealer is re-assayed each year: documents refreshed, certification practice re-checked, disclosure sampled from the live catalogue. A lapsed document or an unanswered assay places the dealer under review until it is resolved.
Suspension
An undisclosed treatment, a misrepresented certificate or a conduct breach triggers review. Where the breach is confirmed the dealer is suspended: the profile leaves the catalogue and search, and the marks are withdrawn. Reinstatement follows evidence, not negotiation.
Complaints
If a dealing with an admitted dealer contradicts what their profile claims, write to hello@gemsverified.com with the dealer's name and the relevant records. Complaints are reviewed against the dealer's file, answered within five working days and recorded against standing. GemsVerified is not a party to transactions and does not arbitrate them; what we govern is the standing we issue.
Questions, answered
No. A badge records checks on the dealer — legitimacy, certification practice, disclosure. The stone itself is the subject of the independent laboratory report that should accompany it, which can be checked with the issuing laboratory directly.
The profile is removed from the catalogue and from search, and the dealer's marks are withdrawn while the suspension stands. Reinstatement requires the breach to be resolved on evidence, and is never a matter of payment.
Write to hello@gemsverified.com with the dealer's name and any records of the dealing. The concern is checked against the dealer's file and answered within five working days; a confirmed breach moves the dealer's standing.
